Citing your Online Resources: Basic Principles
- Online sources are cited like publications. They have the same base as printed publications.
- A website is like an online book. You can site: author/creator/owner of the websites, website title, publication date if made available, place or URL, date posted, or updated.
- Websites that offer multiple items or articles are the online version of books with chapters (sometimes with different authors); therefore, you add the author/creator of each article and title of the page.
- Punctuation on websites follows the same rules for books and articles. Titles on both websites and books should appear in italics. The page or article title appears in quotation marks, publication data appear in parentheses within notes.
